WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE -4

 WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE -4

Shakespeare has always been a subject of intricacies keeping the reader in delight and despair simultaneously, respectively from the deep study of minds and from our inability to ‘pick up’ the suggestion from the playwright. Still,  any reader would stand to gain some advantage of ‘learning an idea’ in an elegant way. Our efforts of understanding Shakespeare  continue by using his ‘quotes’.

This above all: to thine own self be true.”

This seemingly complex utterance is perhaps among the most significant observations that deal with human character. It just means any one honest to self cannot be otherwise with others. [Honest minds cannot have different yardsticks for self and for others].

“Our doubts are traitors, And make us lose the good we oft might win, By fearing to attempt.”

One of the ‘straight forward expressions from Shakespeare in that the playwright tells that often we fail to succeed because we do not attempt fearing that we may not succeed. So, our doubts are the reason for our ‘non-attempt’ that spoiled a chance to succeed.

“To be or not to be, that is the question”.

The statement reads plain and simple, but it addresses the predicament of human life. ‘To be’ refers to the continued living facing all hardships, while, ’not to be’ refers to ending one’s life escaping from agonies of life. Though laid plain, either looks hard to face.

Self-love my liege, is not so vile a sin as self-neglecting”

Taking care of one’s needs is not bad at all , as neglecting one’s needs is far more wrong. Simply, everyone needs to take care of self and never neglect your own needs is the suggestion.

“The course of true love never did run smooth

This is a reference to romantic relations which face obstacles , objections and hurdles .So, the event witnesses rough course rather than a smooth one.

“All the world is a stage and all the men and women merely players. They have their exits and entrances. And one man in his time plays many parts”

This Shakespearean quote is among the most well-known. In this quote he refers to human life to a stage play; the world is the stage and all humans are players entering by birth and escaping by death. During the life span everyone plays several roles [responsibilities].

I believe that the day’s compilation of quotes is interesting.

To continue…..
