Another set of quotes
from William Blake form the day’s blog. Curiously, these are a little longer
than what we have so far had from Blake. That doesn’t anyway rob the merit of
those quotes.
Energy
is an eternal delight and he who desires, but acts not, breeds pestilence.
Creativity requires
imagination and effort [energy]. Holding back this energy [urge to create]
simply destroys creative impulse. Suppressed desires destroy the holder and the
society around. Unfettered effort alone can lend positive form to imagination.
Imagination
is the real and eternal world of which, this vegetable world is but a faint
shadow.
The quote implies that
the world is more like a vegetable that has a temporary existence while what
the human imagination conceives is the true form as the physical objects
undergo changes.
If
the Sun and Moon should ever doubt, they’d immediately go out
It is confidence that
holds all the elements of the universe. If doubt overrules the mind, even
celestial objects would fade and vanish.
Always
be ready to speak your mind and a base man would avoid you
The above quote is the
most significant advice. It cautions us of dishonest [selfish/scheming]
characters who cannot trick/fool/ handle honest people as the latter keep
speaking the truth. Those speaking truth would buy falsehood even if presented
in all elegance. So, cheats do
not like honest characters.
The
fool who persists in his folly will become wise
The above is another
quote from William Blake which lays stress on the value of experience. If a
person keeps treading the wrong path [s]he would face setbacks/ failures. The
failures would educate the person of the importance of following right path/ advice.
The person would turn wise fr5om the experience of failures.
