BLIND and DUMB entities -2
Certainly, it is not my effort to launch insinuation against all stake
holders. Yet, it irks to note that time
and energy are devoted to cosmetic peripherals like appearance, dress sense,
smart looks while the all-too important element- enrichment of skill and
knowledge the two facets of meaningful education seldom appear to be of any
reckoning among these stake holders. All are delighted by the inflated scores
200/200 are even a bigger numerator than its denominator on a score card. Does
it command any genuine awe or social esteem?
Hefty scores are viewed with skepticism if not with suspicion. It
means simply nothing, in the sense that every agency prefers a ‘screening
process’ over that of PUBLIC EXAMINATION SCORES – a sad commentary about the
credibility of such scores/ evaluation.
No one is ashamed of this indignation, for, all are aware [at least inwardly] of the disproportionate
distortion of scores with absolute gay abandon –if I may use the term.
What is it that the system achieves by churning out dwarf minds of tall
scores –knowing well the fate of these boys and girls elsewhere?
In plain terms, it is a comprehensive failure –not to have promoted
comprehension nor nurtured the skills of comprehension –the most vital
component in knowledge building.
Such a lackadaisical approach to learning would prove disastrous at all
occasions where and when comprehension matters the most.
In a nutshell, it appears a happy
collapse in that all stakeholders are happy having achieved 100%.
Of them few know of the folly of
the pursuit of senseless high scores. Aren’t they happily blind and dumb?
