Oh Language –13
Blush, Date, Flex, Mine, Run, Set
Well, words are true tools
of communication; effective communication hinges on appropriate word[s] in
place to preclude chances of wrong understanding. For instance, we have the
practice of describing something ‘beautiful’ even if the item does not pertain
to looks. Someone, after reading a story calls it beautiful. It doesn’t fit the
purpose well at least for those who pay attention to relevance /precision. So,
the way a person handles the language stands testimony to his/ her knowledge on
the sheer strength of apt usage that ‘raises’ the knowledge quotient of the
communicator, though the judgment may turn out to be ‘fallible’. Still good communication is a delight on
either side of the line between the donor and the recipient[s]. Let us consider
the utility of the following terms
Blush
Normally blush refers to the response rendering a reddish tint of facial
skin when [s] he receives a praise or embarrassing appreciation, not meant as
flattery.
Blush can refer to a cosmetic meant to enhance the coloration of skin around facial bone.
Sometimes, in undue haste words get mixed up making the occasion quite
comic as in ‘Blushing crow’ meant to say ‘crushing blow’. Such interchanges of
parts of words, is named ‘Spoonerism’.

‘Date’ can confer a sense of relevance as in ‘You need to ‘update’ the
references indicated, failing which the write-up would be ‘outdated’.
Flex
Generally ‘Flex’ indicates repeatedly moving /tightening the muscles by
physical action.
Flex can imply “show off’ as in ‘He is flexing too much’.
Flex can indicate an electric line too.

Basically it refers to one’s claim of possession as in ‘This camera is
mine.’

energy substances.

Run is also used to imply ‘presenting’ as in All channels run the event
of ‘lunar eclipse’ to-day.

the administration by refusing to pay tax.
Run can suggest suppression as in “They try to run him down by quoting
rules unheard of”.

machinations of his opponents”
So many forms of ‘Run’ truly run our daily interactions.
Set
'Set' generally means a group of [friends, books, letters, rules etc.,that
form a package or cluster normally]
Set can suggest ‘arranging /organizing’ as in “Please set the house in
order”.
Set can mean a specially erected scene for a drama or a movie, simulating
the area being presented.
Set can indicate ‘activation’ as in ‘He set the game by his aggressive
play” or it can mean initiation as in ‘He set the ball in motion’.
Set may also be used to instruct as in “Set the dressing table right,
things are strewn allover”

do”
I hope to have made a valiant attempt in explaining what little I
understand. I trust our blog viewers find them intelligible.
