ENGLISH -31
FAULTY LANGUAGE
Could there be a language- faulty? No language per se is faulty; the users make inappropriate statements – in
grammar/ vocabulary, use of conjunctions or article or other elements
–perceived wrong by rules of grammar or traditions of language.
Though, it is not a crime to make
use of such defective terms, the disturbing part is that some such constructs
by ill-informed persons are stoutly defended as being perfect or in order by all those who are oblivious of
the value of flawless language. Inept usage is a sure sign of poor learning, a
stubborn faith of being correct and of a committed faith that “I do no wrong”.
Primarily, it is a strategy to put on looks of confidence to shield self from
any scope of prospective analysis or review of language skills by other skilled
observers. Taking a rigid posture may at
times place the person in a spot of assurance, dissuading the opponent from any
effort to make a close scrutiny of language skills.. Indeed, it is sad that in
a bid to be authentic, persons tend to be authoritative and never giving in for
scrutiny. Leaving aside such idiosyncrasies, if one wishes to take control of language,
[s]he needs to face objective reviews
and be ready to accept amendments to improve the vocabulary/usage as the right tool of assertion and assurance
of quality.
