CO-ORDINATION –A DIVINE GIFT
What do we intend saying from the title chosen?
Humans represent the highest form of biological
design -that innately possesses the ability named ‘intellect”. If so, other
categories of ‘life’ possess the power of intellect to varying degrees. Despite
all attempts of ‘defining’ the faculty named intellect, it elegantly eludes
‘precise definition’ for its structure/ location and progression as a function
of age. Such a contention takes it for granted that ‘intellect’ keeps
amplifying in pace with physical parameters –height, weight, brain power and
all such ‘packages’ within. However, our
effort to bring out a comprehensive assemblage on ‘intellect’ still keeps
begging the question. Yes, we are more able to understand the value/role of intellect than being to able state what it
is per se? Instead of dragging any
further, one can settle for a basic suggestion that ‘intellect’ is a product
than its being a single entity by structure or function. In my gross understanding ‘intellect’ can be
thought of as a facility for rapid judgment.
Judgment of what-- could
be a corollary. It is about just
everything that happens around us.
Judgment essentially survives on
‘determining –‘right’ and ‘wrong’.. Though subjective, determining a thing as
right or wrong has to ‘work’ on the instant location of history behind. The
earlier occurrence or utterance on an issue by a person holds the key for our
judgment of that person for his/her
honesty or ‘selfless’ attitude.
Now the question –How does ‘judgment’ work? Every judgment requires varied inputs relevant for the present and the future. Therefore judgment hinges on ‘the validity’ of a decision. To be valid, the judgment has to consider the veracity of a suggestion. It is thus driven by the accuracy of the ‘rapid delivery system’ within –"the memory".
Memory has to serve at the right time,
place and speed essential to consolidate the inference- ‘the decision’
It is decision that propels the
pronouncement – ‘the judgment’. It looks safe to recognize that varied
faculties or varied facets of the larger faculty called ‘Brain’ come into play in
a situation calling for a proper decision; Decision –making requires
judgment, analysis, assessment of facts, veracity of claims or proposals and
also foreseeing the prospects –good or bad in the long run.
All these can be pegged on to a single
expression ‘assessment’. Still the silent function ‘assessment’ requires an
instant running of a variety of ‘fact-check systems’ that finely co-ordinate
all the information known earlier and those new , to consolidate the opinion on
an issue.
