 EDUCATION AND SOME HURDLES

If one ponders over the title of this write-up, [s]he would be unfailingly reminded of a saying under “Murphy’s laws. One of those reads               

                                  “If anything can go wrong, it will”. 

Such is the innate intricacy in safely passing the long-drawn course [education] studded with distractions, lure, the joy of youthful vigour, besides ever so many other  diversions that destroy –the fundamental element- the focus. 

It is impossible to steadfastly adhere to the tenets of learning because the process [learning] has a bewildering array of simultaneous demands over punctuality, abiding by schedules, getting ready for intermittent sessions of examination, extracurricular domains and other ‘conditioning’ efforts like Yoga, exercises and competitions showcasing skill/talent.  

 In plain terms, the learner life is one of ‘knife-edge walk’ until cleared in grand style. It is not my mission to confront the youngsters of any prospect of ‘rash impediments’ that dampen the spirit of learning. Yet, duty demands cautioning learners of the relevance of avoiding the digressions likely to intervene to the disadvantage of every learner/ learning.

Despite my own inadequacies, my age permits such cautioning.

As our misfortune would have it, the ‘learning phase’ is quite rich in curiosity of experimentation. These may include tasting unusual food, temptations of viewing movies for the sheer thrill of ‘on screen adventures’ of artistes, tendency to skip classes under the pretext of ‘boredom’. Such deviant instances slowly magnify themselves into a routine to a near point of no return.

The right way to escape from the clutches of deviant habits during the phase of learning lies in the kind of ‘company’ that one happens to be in.                In common language it is ‘the friends circle’ that proves to be a camp of destructive deviation in the long run.

Such temptations to ‘experimenting’ should be scrupulously avoided. Certain degree of caution is all that one needs to tread the path of safety.

Some caution:

Be an observer, never be a participant

Share with elders of what conversations you notice among your classmates. Elders can easily guide you to safety by avoiding bad tendencies generally learnt from friends’ circles.
