STAR GOOSE BERRY

The plant is
botanically ‘Phyllanthus acidus’
Ironically, except for
the fruits, both Gooseberry and Star gooseberry
have nothing in common and the two trees have no resemblance though
representing gooseberry.
Fruits of star
gooseberry have several medicinal properties to handle bone-related ailments.
But, often the fruits are eaten raw soon after plucking them.
Fruits are rich in Vitamin-C,
Antioxidants and Anti- inflammatory properties
Calcium and Phosphorous
content of fruits is helpful for bone health
Fruits promote liver
activity and help digestion
Phytonutrients in
fighting cough, cold are found in star goose berry fruits and they are used in
relieving from respiratory set-backs.
The tiny yellow fruits
of star gooseberry are far more valuable than what we are generally aware of.
