 Oh Language- 29   

Our effort to understand words for their relevance /use is a delightful experience, as we get to have an occasion to patiently study their application in contexts.   

Verbal

The term refers to ‘words’ and their use. It suggests the use of words. It can also refer to ‘spoken’ form and not the written form as in ‘There was a verbal argument [spoken argument].

Vituperation

The term refers to aggressive, abuse employing harsh terms . Such utterances are ‘Vituperative’.  

Vocal

The term refers to the act of using voice as in “There is a vocal concert on Sunday next’ Why do you shout at the top of your voice ? aoid this, lest it should damage your vocal chords.

Voice

The term [noun] refers to the sound that emerges during speech.

Voice [verb] can imply the act of expressing as in ‘You voice your opinion in the next meeting of the council.

‘Voice’ can imply the effect as in ‘He has no voice in his office’; it means the person does not or  cannot influence the authority or persons who matter in an issue.

Whisper

The term can be used as ‘noun’ /’verb’  .In the noun form ‘whisper’ means very low volume of noise.

As a verb, ‘whisper’ refers to the act of speaking in a very low tone and close to the person’s ear. ‘He whispered of a plan to spend summer holidays’. ‘Whisper’ can imply rumour as in ‘There is a whisper’ that the top management is in for a shuffle’.

Whisker

The term is the name for long hair around the mouth, common in Cats. The term is used in plural as ‘whiskers’.

Some words have more meanings

The term ‘Service’, also refers to Religious and Spiritual contexts Another term is ‘Service road. Some words are twisted out of context; we are not inclined to inspect them just to sustain decorum of the platform.  Prof. R K
