EDUCATION AND THE CHILD-2
Any
knowledge that fails to express itself is as good as ‘no knowledge’.
Again the topic centres
round the ability to muster right words and master their usage –as a
straightforward effort to corner accolades and glory from fellow travellers and
critics as well.
If one manages to view/
review the global scenario relating to diplomacy and alignment of ideologies,
it is too stark to miss the value of stinging articulation.
In order that the
learner acquires such skills, certain practices are important. The foremost of
them is – rapt attention through every session of learning. Please avoid the
temptation to deviate or digress while the teacher strives to explain an idea
or word for its varied applications.
I have known students
who return to teacher after weeks to know the precise interpretation for a term
or a process. This is largely because the learner did not bestow the due
attention to the explanation offered to the last detail.
Instead of paying
attention to the on-going activity, they become wayward and lethargic in grasping
the nuances behind the terms and their application. Actually these are the
bases over which one has to build the ability for communication. Having lost
the idea for right communication, they later try to juggle with words in fond
hopes of the opponent making sense out of the ill-organized blabber.
Unmistakably, it is a
case of missing the bus; it was all before you to cultivate the technique of articulating
an idea; a stage that you would later be in, will
make it both uncomfortable and embarrassing to seek clarification.
Any shortcoming of
learners is viewed with sympathy; the same inadequacy at a later stage is a
fertile platform for antagonists and detractors to mock at the inadequacy.
Any outward nonchalant
look of any ill-organized mind, is a brittle shield to guard self from the
ignominy of teasing by colleagues. So,
it is logical to devote time to the process of learning at the right age and
all mistakes in the course of learning are viewed as permissible slips and are not construed as a matter for ridicule.
But possessing a degree
or title without the necessary attendant skills is far more ridiculous than
ridicule itself.
In the formative stages
never hesitate to get your doubts cleared; none can find fault with it. Staying
faulty in later life is unwelcome.
