EDUCATION AND SOME HURDLES -8
[Collective effort-6]
TEACHING INVOLVES
AUGMENTATION.-III
It stands opportune to
tell our esteemed readers that, it is not my mission to portray the present
scenario in bad light, especially the facet-Education. It is true that a
greater degree of relaxation has crept into the corridors of learning. What was
once an item of rigid seriousness, now receives just a casual glance signifying
insignificance. Painfully, it keeps amplifying –as if all is well with what is
on. What else it is but casual attitude? Every half-hearted explanation
[excuse] is accepted as genuine more to tide over friction than to set anything
in order. Personnel have tuned themselves to the ‘process’ of getting on with inadequate
task force , as mending them would be more frustrating than frustration itself.
Teachers not
well-updated choose to settle for compromises like turning a blind eye to
inappropriate conduct, inattentive disposition during classroom sessions and
display of defiance by wards –to name a few. Some of them [teachers] are
nervous to address these issues being themselves ill-equipped on matters of
educative efforts; it is easier for them to buy peace than fighting
inappropriate temperament among some learners.
By itself, this is an
area fit for self-study by teachers. They need to introspect as to why they
face hostile reactions while some other colleagues receive utmost attention and
unflinching reverence. In plain terms such venerated teachers show higher
ability for effective teaching unlike the inept performer. It is here that
claims of comparable attainments pale into insignificance –as performance
matters the most. In view of such critical equipping, augmentation merits
deeper consideration and effort. Two
components pertain to augmentation. 1 a well-laid out assembly of subject
content for clear presentation and 2 the mental grit to ‘take on’ unruly
behaviour among some learners.
A well-equipped mind
would refuse to budge for any bullying, for, [s]he is confident of the extent
to which the augmentation is complete or wholesome. If after a tenure of
teaching for a decade or more , the teacher is unable to take full command of
the classroom, the person needs to judge if [s]he should be an object of ridicule among
the learners. A truly learned-mind would not accept such ignominy, more so after
proper augmentation of wherewithal necessary for the job on hand. To continue…..
